I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the University of Central Oklahoma has seen fit to hire me as their new electronic resources and serials librarian.
There is, of course, the Fields-esque feeling of “They like me!” that comes with any job offer. In this case, however, it’s more than that. The job is going to be incredibly fun (well, by my admittedly warped definition of the word): a little of the familiar mixed with a good bit of new stuff as well, and the opportunity to keep learning. What more could a gal want?
Oh yes: a clearly capable staff; an office with a window; and a nice little place to live within walking distance of campus. Since I’m currently missing only the last, I’m going to officially consider this wish granted.

Again, yippee!
But “fun”? My idea of fun is considered seriously warped by many due to my status as a serials cataloger … but “electronic resources and serials librarian” as fun? Even I don’t want one of those jobs.
Of course, that’s my loss seeing as that is about the most prolific open job (and growing) right now.
Congrats!

Thanks, Doc Martens, for being such a fabulous reference!
Mark: I suspect that more and more libraries are splitting off electronic resources into it’s own thing — it’s so complicated and messy that asking a librarian to do that *and* something else can be a little hair-raising. So, of course, I really wanted the job that combines ER with something else!

Congrats, Kirsten! I’ve heard good things about UCO (and now it seems much of what I’ve heard has been verified
They’re lucky to have you! Good luck with the transition!
